Why Do You Play Ultimate? I played pick-up ultimate my junior and senior years of high school, then the summer before college, a teacher from my school (who had been an avid ultimate player since she had gone to college) invited myself and a couple of my friends to join her summer club team. I was hooked from the first practice. When I got to northeastern, I sought out the team and it was the best decision I could have made.
Favorite Thing About Ultimate "The spirit of the game." Ultimate is based upon the honor system, and everyone takes it to heart. Though the sport is highly competitive, there's a fairness and honesty about it that you can't find in other sports. I love walking on to the field knowing that I'm playing with a group of people with the same passion for the sport and the same belief in the "spirit."
Favorite Team Moment My favorite moment with the Valkyries thus far would have to be at spring break in Georgia '07. The Valkyries, after a long ride to the south, truly meshed as a unit and played every game with more intensity than we'd had all season. The winning streak pumped the team up and made for a spectacular spring break, as well as making way for an even better spring season.
